My-PTA.org offers personalized web site for all PTA/PTOs

Our PTA site, http://nova.my-pta.org/, was created by http://www.my-pta.org/. This site has been an unbelievably helpful resource for our PTA.  Our site has made it a breeze to communicate with parents and teachers, schedule volunteers with our Online Volunteer Scheduler, help our school "go green" with its online document storage and introduce our new Online Store.

You can follow http://my-pta.org/ and comment on its Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/my-ptaorg/144833628870049?ref=ts.

The CEO of My-pta.org wants to encourage volunteerism in all schools and is setting up these sites for free for any PTA.  If you know of anyone in another school that would be interested in a personalized site at no cost to their PTA, PTO or other Parent/Teacher organization, please forward them this article and/or have them contact dcollins@my-pta.org for more information.

School nurse information

This year, our school had an on-site nurse, Nurse Betty, to help the students throughout the day.  The salary of the nurse was funded by the Broward County School Health Program which is comprised of different entities that provide funding if a student in the school requires the constant, daily attention of a licensed nurse.

At this time, we are unaware of any students that would satisfy these requirements set in order for a school nurse to be funded for the next school year. Without a nurse at the school, the front office will be trained to administer medicines, take temperature and other basic first aid needs.

However, if there is a student that would require daily medical attention by a licensed nurse, please send an Email to nova@my-pta.org so that we can follow up with the school on this important issue.  If you would like to speak with someone at the school directly, please call the front office.  All information will be kept confidential.

Silence Hurts!

Broward County Public Schools Steps Up 'Silence Hurts' Campaign - You Have the Power to Make a Difference

A message from Broward County Public Schools: Students, parents, teachers and community members have the power to make a difference. If you know of plans to commit violence in our schools, do the right thing. Tell us. Tell an administrator. Tell a teacher. Speak up. Call, E-mail, text or Twitter. Silence is no longer an option. We must prevent callous acts of violence. That's the message behind Broward County Public Schools You Have the Power to Make a Difference campaign. In light of recent violent acts by students at school and in our communities, Broward County Public Schools is revitalizing and boosting its Silence Hurts campaign, designed to encourage students to break the code of silence.

The campaign aims to create a sense of urgency regarding the need to prevent student violence and encourage use of the Districts anonymous tip line (754-321-0911), Web site (www.broward.k12.fl.us/siu/tips), E-mail address (school911@browardschools.com) and by texting SBBC plus the message to CRIMES (274637). Tips are received immediately by the Districts Special Investigative Unit/Professional Standards Department, staffed seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Names and contact information remain confidential. (In the event of real time emergency, dial 911.)

Pay By Credit Card Online for Before/After Care And Certain Field Trips - Online

If you have any questions regarding online payments, please contact Neil Johnson in the Internal Accounts Office at (754) 321-0589.
